Erlene Hanson, 89, of Clark, passed away on February 19, 2025. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Rob Salmonson officiating. A time of fellowship immediately took place following the service, with burial taking place at Lorinda Cemetery in Henry, S.D. at approximately 3:15 P.M. Visitation took place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Furness Funeral Home.
Erlene Marie Dekker was born on April 14, 1935 to Henry and Edith Dekker. Erlene attended elementary school in Elrod and graduated from Clark High School in 1953. Following graduation, Erlene attended Northern State College. Erlene married the neighbor boy Everett Hanson on August 12, 1956. Together the couple had two daughters, Barbara and Connie. Erlene enjoyed sewing many of the girls' clothes, and also loved to garden and clean.
After her education, Erlene worked mostly in rural communities such as Foxton, Elrod and Lincoln. She also worded at the Clark County Courthouse in the treasurer's office, and then worked as a teacher's aide at Clark Elementary.
After retirement, Erlene and Everett spent many winters in Mesa, A.Z. They both also enjoyed summers at Lake Kampeska at their lake cabin. In 2017, Everett and Erlene moved into Stoney Brook Suites, later moving to Avantara Nursing Home in Clark in 2022.
Erlene was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clark and the Clark Lioness Group. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and bowling at Clark Lanes.
Erlene is survived by her daughters Barbara (Lowell) Dalton of Clark and Connie (Steve) Lundholm of Watertown; along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Joe and Tonia Dalton, and their children Sam, Dan, and Sophie of Watertown, Jon and TuongVy Dalton and their child Ashlyn of Clark, Mike and Angie Bevers, and their children Chris, Jenny and Ben Bevers of Watertown, Marie and Matt Hlavacek, and their children Haley and Hogan of Watertown, Tanner Lundholm of Watertown, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett; parents Henry and Edith Dekker; brother Clifford (Boots) Dekker; brother-in-law Loren (Carleton) Hanson; and son-in-law Bill Bevers.
